I am covering more court, lasting through matches, and loving singles again. The last is so good for tennis players! I can't say enough how much faster that first step has improved. It is a really nice total body workout that does everything from strength training, flexibility, and plyometrics. I have not bulked, this program is designed to rip and bulk only if you desire. Probably in better shape than I was in college. I started the X this last summer and lost about 40lbs and got a lot stronger and more fit! I am in the best shape of my adult life. Tennis was not enough exercise alone.especially doubles. It told me that doing little to nothing was not okay anymore. It was an awesome experience.and became a big one for me. We gave it a great run in Arizona but did not win. I did do a nice minor pull at Nationals on the chest, but I could play through it, just had to take it easy. I got some weight off which was good, and got the Chest in much better shape. So back to therapy and aggressively started running to melt some weight. It was great, but my chest was toast again.but we had time before nationals. I don't know how we did it, but we won that match after facing match points in a 3rd set tie-breaker. We made it through there, but I again hurt it in the last match which was a key match. I got it back to about 80% for that tournament in about 6 weeks. We won there and I went into physical therapy before sectionals. ![]() I could not raise the racket over my head for the most part.some how we got through. But we were in a pinch and we had to finish strong. Then at States in July 2007 I pulled my chest something terrible. We got all the way to Nationals in 2007! But over the course of a few years there I was battling terrible injuries to my hamstrings, chest, and shoulder. So I shifted and became a doubles player on a local USTA men's team. It was best described as one hard smack on the ball followed by either a winner for me or watching the ball come back past me. Take on, at one point, an additional 80+ pounds and my tennis game was laughable. Since college I have got a "real" job, got married, and have 3 kids. But I had a big game and was tall enough to get away with poor fitness (I could cover the court). I was built like a linebacker not a tennis player. I was the guy on the team that didn't look like I fit.because I was not fit. Changed my life.Ī little bit about my tennis game and history on starting the program. I'll most definitely have a stronger core after 90 days pass by after feeling the effects of it last night and today as well. I thoroughly enjoyed my first workout yesterday, but I was pretty tired out with all the push-ups, pull-ups, and especially the AbRipperX exercises. ![]() Hopefully this will help me get stronger, quicker, and a little bit more toned so that I'll not only look and feel better, but probably perform better both on and off the courts as well. The most I've ever weighed in my life was about 125, but that was from bulking up. I've always been somewhat lanky all my life, and as a hardgainer it's very difficult for me to keep the weight on (especially since I'm highly active and love to be on the courts).Īs of right now, I'm around 5'7" and a scrawny 115 pounds, if that. I began P90x yesterday after being convinced by all the infomercials and a bunch of reviews from my friends that I could perhaps benefit from this. tony is a freakin rock and knows how to make the exercises as fun as they can be. The videos are very well done.funny and motivating. i ended up at about 158 if memory serves. i'm 5'10" and dropped from 172 to 149 pounds in the first 6-7 weeks. ![]() i actually had to eat more than the program called for cuz my metabolism returned to 18 year old levels (i'm 35) and i was losing too much weight. I cut my body fat in half, doubled my pushup and pullup numbers (by the way, if you don't want to do pushups and pullups, this is not for you) and became overall much stronger. at the end of round 1 i finally was able to beat my buddy who was a girls college tennis coach, hadn't come close to beating him in 3 years. ![]() don't attempt it if you don't think you have the mental fortitude or time to complete it. it's basically 1.5 hrs of pain per day, 6 days per week, with a strict diet that will have you begging for carbs. i've inspired at least 6 people i work with to do the program as well. From June to december last year i did 2 full rounds of p90x.
